  1. If completed at another OTIEC, submit a copy the verification of Qualified Rigger course completion to the OSHA Dropbox.
  2. If verification documentation is approved, you will receive an email from CSUDH OSHA staff confirming approval (please allow 3 business days for processing).

Course Description

This course is designed for individuals interested in training qualified riggers. The course places special emphasis on ANSI/ASSP Z490.1 which provides guidance on how to manage overall safety training programs. Emphasis will be placed on effective training delivery and required course documentation to maintain compliance with regulatory mandates.

Individuals looking to conduct rigging awareness and qualified rigger training

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe requirements in ANSI Z490.1 with regards to occupational safety and health training
  2. Review recommended training materials for rigging awareness and qualified riggers
  3. Describe best practices and techniques used for adult learners
  4. Describe learning objectives for rigging awareness and qualified rigger courses
  5. Conduct performance evaluations using basic rigging configurations

Prerequisites: OSX 923: Qualified Rigger & Signal Person;
Recommended Prerequisites: OSHA 510 or OSHA 511
Course Length: 1 day
Recommended Materials: Pen, pencil, highlighter and writing pad
Personal Protective Equipment Required: Steel toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves and appropriate work clothing

  • A laptop with built-in camera, Wi-Fi capability

  Online System and Equipment Requirements

  • An internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (4G/LTE or better)
  • Access to computer or laptop with built-in camera – one student per device
  • OSHA 510, 511, 500 and 501 Students only:
    Additional stand-alone webcam or secondary device (phone)
  • Built-in or external speakers/headset and microphone
